John Kruger attended Divine Word Seminary in Epworth, Iowa, from 1965 to 1968 and graduated from Loras College with a B. A. degree in 1969.  He received a B.S. and an O.D. degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1976.  Dr. Kruger started practice in Story City, Iowa in 1976.  In 1980, he purchased Dr. Roy Drummond’s practice in Ames, Iowa.  In 1986, along with James McClean, O.D., he built a new optometric office, located at 201 10^th Street, Ames, Iowa.  Two years later, Dr. Kruger bought Dr. McClean’s practice, at his retirement.  He has continued to practice at this location up to the present time.  In 1980, 1986, and 1987 Dr. Kruger was diagnostic and therapeutically certified in the use of drugs for the treatment of eye infections and diseases.

Michael J. Kruger attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa from 1996 until receiving his B.S. degree in 2000.  Later that year, he attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry in Columbus, Ohio and received his O.D. degree in 2004.  Dr. Kruger joined his father’s private practice in July 2004, working in both the Ames and Des Moines locations.
